How it works
The TripActions smartphone application works on iPhone and Android-based devices. All functionality, including administrative travel management may also be done on the companies web application. Across devices users have the ability to book travel, modify reservations, check travel plans, chat with travel agents, receive real time travel notifications, and expense trips--contacting support for help.
TripActions partners with multiple suppliers in the market to provide users with a wide array of travel selection. Their travel inventory mixes consumer, corporate, and direct options.
The company uses behavioral economics in an attempt to align business and employee objectives by incentivizing travelers to spend more responsibly. Users are shown incentives on each search result with the opportunity to earn 30% equity in every $1 saved for their company. The user's employer keeps the other 70%, attributing to the company's overall savings. Rewards are redeemable for Amazon.com gift cards, future personal travel and business travel upgrades.
The platform uses big data and artificial intelligence to customize inventory and employee incentives for each travel search. Results are prioritized using the company's travel policies, real-time market prices and individual traveler preferences including loyalty program memberships.
The system's admin dashboard tracks company spend, potential savings, and employee travel habits. In accordance with duty of care, the admin dashboard features a live map that shows where employees are traveling in real time. Finance and travel teams can contact travelers directly within the application in emergency situations.
Users can book personal travel on the application as well.
Their website names clients such as SurveyMonkey, Jive Communications, Castlight Health, Malwarebytes, Robinhood, Favorite Healthcare and ThoughtSpot.
Partnerships
The company partners with Sabre Corporation and is a member of the Priceline Group Affiliate Network to combine inventories for flights, accommodations, and rental cars from direct, corporate, and consumer sites. Users can access ride-sharing applications Uber and Lyft in their mobile travel itineraries while traveling. Additional partners include Coupa and Expensify for expense management within the platform.
